How did I get started writing?

Hello Readers!

When I do book signings, people always ask me how I got started writing? Actually, that is the easiest question to answer.  I found myself unemployed, in January, in Minnesota. Even though I would spend hours on the computer looking for a new position, there wasn’t much out there after the holidays. So, one day, with nothing on television, I went back to my computer. I opened a new word document and started with a simple idea I had had for a while. The first pages were a little slow in formulating, but by the tenth page, things were really rolling and the story was forming. I tell people it was like God opened something within me and the stories just started to form.

I would write while alone, my children were either in school, college or working. Jim, worked away from home four days a week, coming home late on Thursdays for a three-day weekend. One day, he came up to me while I was working, asking me what I was doing? I shyly said I was writing a book. “Really?” He said, taking a lot of interest. From then on, when he was home, if I got up from the computer, he would sit down and read what I had written, always going back to where he had left off and coming to where I was at.

The Retreat” was the first work that came out of that winter. Shortly after I finished that one, I actually started two others which had started forming during the early stages of “The Retreat”. I worked on both of them at the same time, depending on my mind set when I sat in front of the computer. “Elizabeth” was the next one for me to finish, with “An Overdue Healing” coming shortly after.

Some of my fans ask me if I am still writing and how many books I have. I have the five novels which are published but also, I am working on several others. I have developed two more for the series and I am also working on something completely different. I found that I could submit a story to “Hallmark”. They have a whole different set of rules for submission, so I have been working on a story for that. I will keep you up to date on what’s coming out next and when.

Thanks for taking the time to ask and following my story.

Remember to leave me messages and I will take the time to get back to you!
